Yes. The calculation is a deliverable in its own right — signed, submittal-ready, and yours. Plenty of people want to know what their service will carry before they commit to a charger, a heat pump, or a remodel. There's no requirement to use us for the work that follows.
It's worth running any time you're adding significant load to an existing service — a heat pump, an induction range, a hot tub, a workshop sub-panel, or an ADU. Santa Clarita's signed-calculation requirement is tied specifically to Level 2 EV charging stations on service under 200A, but the underlying question is the same in every one of those cases: does the service carry it?
